Face Of Magazines From The Pages Of Human History

The Altering Face Of Magazines From The Pages Of Human History

What always puzzles me is the role of magazines when the world has passed through such a colorful, terrible & blazing past and what it's doing now?

We all think that there is always room for happenings, new findings that happens in the world. To find the fitting channel of the choice I need to get updated. There are journals, periodicals, academic journals, newsletters, fiction, non-fiction novels, novella, poems, magazines.

Magazines are about news, personal narratives, and opinion on the subject that interests the general public. Articles for magazines are quite frequently written by professional writers, with or without expertise, briefing discussion overview of events, with hints on the further areas to explore.

Magazines use commercially understandable format which indirectly professes that they are not for voracious readers or people who dig deep into the interesting subject. Also, magazines heavily depend on growing regular circulations, sponsor-hooking through eye-popping illustrations of generally known subjects.

This doesn't mean magazine or low in quality of contents the main point is they aren't designed for those plunge into serious research on the subjects they are looking after. Magazines don't provide a bibliography for the origin of their source.

If you look for research results based on data & evidence, authenticity by footnotes or endnotes, the magazine may or may not have a clear and consistent goal relating to coverage. For a magazine, a cover story is buying front-page breaking news. Editorial, Articles, Feature Stories, Boxed Columns, Trivia, Reviews, varying range of photographs spread throughout the entire printed copy makes it a successful magazine.

Style & body shopping means more for magazines, thus, it always contains attractive covers (75% of them are glamourous making use of model, cinema industry), an urn of all eggs with a varying range of subjects, targeted to entertain instead of engaging the readers (many times side-by-side contradictory too appear). Magazines hold a general audience by subscription, prize-winning puzzles, questionnaires, and inviting sponsors on advertising, theme-based contents regardless of the mode of publication namely Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

The magazine holds the trapeze's balance of text, opinion, and graphics. Thus, one marvelous thing about magazines is they are introductory about authors, political movements, new trends, cultural change, technological advancements, travel & lifestyle. To earn and sustain common people who function in a variety of fields both as employees or entrepreneurs - various genres of Literary, Travel, Food & Culture, Lifestyle, Environmental, Space, Medical, Sport, Pulp, Spiritual, Rational, Scientific, Computer, Economic, Fan, Children, Teen magazines share the commercial aspects on all subjects.

The only challenge is magazines are expensive to produce though it seldom opinionates or elusively registers their original voice even in a generalized discussion.

“You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.”

― Ray Bradbury

The world has undergone much during the era of the 40s-80s. The diaspora of realism, pseudo-realism, magical realism, absurdism, neo-existentialism, cubism, socialism, capitalism, communism, occultism makes its spinning wheel of time a roller-coaster ride. Imagine the rise & decline of flower generations, after-effects of two world wars + silly reasoned Vietnamese war, Nixon's water-gate scandal, screaming, body-shocking hippies, hat-covered mafias, free flow of dopes.

Also, how god business is propagated in Europe as uncovered secret of eastern philosophies. What was established begun with promises on liberating materialistic techno-bound alienation of western people ended into 'spiritually elevated' god-business cult followers.

The fundamental damage is done by these godmen cults from stealing & dissecting Lord Gautama Buddha's teachings & his only meditation Vippasana which aims at Cultivation Of Mind (1. Anicca in Pali - Naturally Ever-Changing Reflex, 2. Panna, Pragna - Observing (which includes Breathe too) & Understanding the true nature of things, 3. Samadhi-Meditative about all happening both inward and outward). their means are composite aspects of the body, breathe, awareness and it's the posture of natural course in unison which is unpredictable but, achievable by every individual.

Purity or impurity depends on oneself,
No one can purify another.”
― Tripitaka. Sutta Pitaka. Khuddakanikaya. Dhammapada - Lord Gautama Buddha

The godmen cults plagiarized it into three separate areas of business namely Yoga (Asana & Mudra), Pranayama, Meditation Camps (Fast-Track, Commune Workshops, Long-term Annual/Life Membership). It expanded it's trend in recent days that every corporate enroll its employees: Yoga Therapy, Pranayama Healing - Basics To Advanced.

Birth of cults namely Iskcon's onion, garlic free Krishna diets, saffron & rosary surrounded European gopikas trancing hare Rama hare Krishna with half-closed eyes, Jim Jones, Koresh, Osho Rajneesh - Sex to Super-consciousness, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's - Transcendental bagging of mattress jumping money, Rama Theertha, Paramhansa Yogananda's - 'The Autobiography of a Yogi' - (For a spiritual person, the past it dead, if so. why someone renders his past and write a biography?'), Swami Rama and his sex in a forbidden zone as spiritual incest, Shinkriyo, a magazine of those times wrote coverage & introductory articles about them.

The way the world operated took U-Turn that religious holy texts in low price editions & porn magazines with glittering body parts are placed side by side in the bookstalls.

Music has done a significant contribution to all of the adversary pages of past history. Rock Anthems, Reggae, Punk, Jazz, Blues, Disco, Heavy Metallica, the blaring acoustic guitars, drumbeats with heart-breaking, provocative lyrics by Boney M, ABBA, AC/DC, Eagles, Scorpions, Wailers & Bob Marley, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Tracy Chapman, Aretha Franklin to gear up common people to stand up for the right in the ill-facing world.

Novelists & Poets have also had it's an equal share in the past with (The Clockwork Orange) Antony Burgess, (Survivor, Dawn, Kindred, Fledgling) Octavia Butler, (Slaughterhouse-Five) Kurt Vonnegut, (Ring Around The Sun) Clifford D. Simak, (The Scanner Darkly), Philip K. Dick, (Everyman, The Ghostwriter) Philip Roth, (In Cold Blood) Truman Capote, (I know why the caged bird sings) Maya Angelou, (Howl) Allen Ginsberg, (Listen to Little Men) Wilhelm Reich, (Invisible Man) Ralph Ellison, (Factotum, Pleasure of the Damned) Charles Bukowski, (I and Thou) Martin Buber, (Demon Haunting World) Carl Sagan, (When Beale Street Talks) James Baldwin to name a few.
